Abstract:Since its establishment in the 1930s, the Yingzao Xueshe (Society for Research in Chinese Architecture) was engaged in close cooperation with the National Beiping Library (today the National Library of China). Together, they carried out the collection of historical documents, such as the Yangshi Lei Archives and the M?llendorff Books, as well as the cataloging and research of the material. This article discusses the origin and development of the fruitful cooperation; additionally, it introduces the services currently provided by the National Library in the field of traditional architecture and construction; and finally, it provides an outlook on future trends.
